History of Playing and Making Music

I started to play on my dad's keyboard when I was about 10, learning basic songs like silent night and chopsticks. I then progressed onto trying to play prelude by Bach which took me a long time to learn as I would look at the dots on sheet music and count to find the right note I would usually count from middle C. I never was taught how to play the piano but there were songs which I tried to play. At school I would go on the piano in music lessons to show and play a few chords and basic tunes. I was asked by the music teacher if I would go to do a course on music, but at the time I declined.

In college which was a bad year for me as well as getting bad school results I did a business studies course to top up my qualifications at the time. But in most lunch times I would go with a friend or by myself to play the piano. I think I would go form playing the same music I self learnt or try some of my own melodies. One day a girl who I found very attractive liked what I was playing. It was a part of Moonlight sonata; I told her I would stick at learning the whole piece, bit by bit to play her the whole track. It took months for me to learn and I did finish it and was able at the time to play the whole piece, though I never got to play it to her again. Around college time I brought a Yamaha DJX, which I was able to play and record up to 6 tracks at one time. I was in awe of this machine.

Then when I moved to a different college at the same time of getting my first computer a mate told me I could make music on a computer again I was in awe of the idea and I set to work out how I could do this. So since then probably around 2001 I've self taught myself how to make music. I've had the help of some friends, friends I've made on the net and the vast information which you can get from the net to get to the standard I am today, which is still a long way to where I would like to get.

My Connection to Music

From the age of about 5 I would beat box a bass line and drums sound from my mouth in the back of the car of my parents. I can play and edit any track or come up with any music I want in my head at anytime. If you could have some machine that could take what I hear in my head. I would create the best music in the world on tap. Though to my frustration when I hear a track and I try and make a version on the computer, its far shorter then what I imagine but its something I've come to accept, I'm basic at playing the piano and my production skills are basic too in my mind.

I can tap to any rhyme, ie pace of my walking or clock or fan ticking, or something like train tracks and come up with a beat and music track.

With my connection to my (soul, spirit, conscious, intuition, inner self, higher self) I can feel what music does to me. So I'm more careful to what I listen too. I also love hi-fi equipment and having the best quality of sound. I would at times would listen to music and get high as if some would be taking drugs. I also love listening to music in the dark laying down. And feeing the music and energy around me, it's like the hairs on the back of your neck all over your body.
